Atlanta-Based Robotics Firm Offers Loose-Lift Palletizer System for the Print Industry
CAMotion Inc. is an OEM of high speed flexible robots and robot systems for material handling, packaging, case packing, palletizing and depalletizing applications. The Atlanta company has recently delivered and installed one of its new robotic loose-lift palletizing systems.
The Loose-Lift Palletizer (LLP) (shown below) is a robotic gantry system used primarily in the printing industry. The LLP replaces manual operated hoist systems and labor by automatically transferring loose stacks of paper from conveyors to pallets. The automated system palletizes stacks weighing as much as 100-pounds each. Slip sheets are inserted in between layers to maintain pallet integrity.
Mechanically, the system consists of a four-axis servo controlled robot with a specialized gripper. Integrated safety scanners permits the simple ingress and egress of fork trucks into the work area to remove filled pallets. The structure of the machine is highly scalable. Because of this, a single system can service one or multiple palletizing stations.
The LLP makes use of specialized motion control and logistical software that simplifies commissioning and startup. Generally, commissioning and startup time is less than half of that required for conventional palletizing systems. A customer, reflecting on a recent LLP installation stated that “it was the most efficient install he had ever seen for a system of this size.”
One feature that characterizes CAMotion solutions is the use of internet-based monitoring and diagnostics. This capability on the LLP provides end users with a simple means for remote monitoring and trouble-shooting.
